We rounded up some key sales and deals you can take advantage of this week, and also listed some things to keep in mind when shopping sales while staying financially savvy.

Table of content:

  1. When you buy something on sale do you save money?
  2. What is the 30 day rule?
  3. The best Memorial Day sale deals 2024
  • The Real Real – up to 80% off!
  • Parachute – 30% off bundles, 20% off everything else
  • Casper – 30% off mattresses, 10% off everything else

1. When you buy something on sale, do you save money?

Sales can be a great way to save money, when approached correctly, but it’s not always in our best interests to take advantage of one and there are some considerations you should take into account.

First and foremost you should consider: if the item wasn’t on sale, would you still want or need it? Or is it just an impulse desire based on an alluring price point? You’re not saving money if you’re buying an item on sale that you didn’t need in the first place.

Also consider if there are similar items you actually like more? If you’re just settling for an item that’s on sale but isn’t exactly what you wanted, you might end up regretting the purchase later.

2. What is the 30 Day Rule?

The 30-day savings rule is pretty straightforward: When faced with the temptation of an impulse purchase, wait 30 days before committing to the expense. During this time, take the opportunity to evaluate if you really need or want the item, and if the purchase is in line with your financial goals.

Which means, the best way to make use of sales is to plan for them ahead of time. Throughout the year, make lists of things you want or need – most online stores have some sort of Wishlist feature – and if you still want the item by the time of the sale, you can take advantage of the savings while feeling confident about your financial decisions.

3. The best Memorial Day sale deals 2024

With that said, sales can be a great way to save a lot of money on large purchases of items you might really need, like a new mattress, clothes, or tech items. Listed below are some of the best Memorial Day sales we think are worth checking out this week:
